| Forty of us ate in this room of this traditional Japanese restaurant. Traditional Japanese restaurants have tatami mats on the floor and you need to take your shoes off before entering. You sit or kneel on mats on the floor. Today we were served tempura. |

Tempura actually comes from Portugal. Portuguese missionaries introduced tempura in the sixteenth century. Tempura eventually adapted itself to Japanese needs and tastes. It is now considered one of the national dishes of Japan. |

At a different restaurant we tried tempura again. However, I don't think I would try this tempura again. It consisted of fish heads and fish tails. |
